Songs Heard from the Other Room

Songs heard from the other room can be especially magical.

Yesterday evening I was napping in the bedroom, and Josh was watching this crazy movie on Netflix in the his man-room. I fell asleep as the movie was beginning, and I emerged from my slumber to this song, which played over the closing credits.

I listened to it play, then hurried into the room and said, "What's this movie? What was that song?" The movie was White Lightnin' and the song was Restless Sinner by Black Rebel Motorcycle Club.

White Lightnin' is a sensationalized biopic about Jesco White of the infamous White family of West Virginia. I found this description of the movie on a site called Gorepress, and it sounds pretty good.

{Josh and I are familiar with the White family because we saw The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival a few years back. It featured male frontal nudity if I remember correctly.}

Vintage Color Splash

I bought this necklace at Cheap Thrills (a vintage/thrift clothing store in Fayetteville) for $10 like a year ago.

It's one of those 60's necklaces like they wore in "The Help."

I have another one that belonged to my Grandma Forga. It's pale pink and a bit more subtle. I wear it quite a bit. But I never wore the sherbert-tastic Cheap Thrills necklace because I couldn't figure out what to put it with. Yesterday evening, while getting dressed to go see a play, I was inspired to pair it with this black sweatshirt-dress.

Perfect!

I was going to make this my profile picture on Facebook, until Josh pointed out that I was making the dreaded "duck face." So I went with this instead.

Anyway, this outfit was totally cute and I was totally proud of it. You can't see, but I did black tights and brown cowboy boots.

{ quote of the day }

Josh on Valentine's Day:
"Man, there were like six redheads in Walmart today!
Not that I went to Walmart to buy your flowers.
I was just there to look at the redheads."

The Must-See Movie of 2012

Oh. My goodness. I cannot wait to see Come Morning, featuring Josh's dad in his big screen debut. Yep, that's right. Richard Ledbetter is the new George Clooney. Not to brag or anything, but he once told me that I was his acting role-model. All joking aside, I was pretty much giddy when Josh showed me this preview. I said, "That looks like a real movie!"

Come Morning Trailer from Derrick Sims on Vimeo.

Richard plays Charlie the frightening redneck. You can see him blowing out a lantern (1:18), and when you see the super cool shot of some guy shooting off a shotgun into the air (1:47) - that's him!!! I am so proud of my papa-in-law. He wasn't handed that part. He won the director over with his striking presence. (See the director's note next to his bio on the film's cast page.) So excited to see the whole movie.
