Goodbye V-Day, Hello B-Day

Well, I'm a day late and a dollar short. Hope that's OK with you guys. The last few days have been busy. On Thursday evening I made Roscoe/Lux cookies for Valentine's Day (you'll see).

Here's a little batch waiting to go in the oven.

And here's the finished product.

There was one Saimese. I gave it to my mom.

On Friday, Mom & I went to Mt. Ida to visit my grandma as we do every week. The drive up was beautiful. Everything was covered in snow except the road. But by the time we were driving home the snow was melting fast. Later that day Josh & I drove to Glenwood to pick up a giant bird cage with my handy-dandy truck. That was a lovely drive as well, although the snow was completely gone by that point. From there we drove to Blake & Salina's house in Arkadelphia (the bird cage's final destination). While we were there I think I FINALLY learned the names of all five of their lovely (though slightly intimidating) tropical birds, including the newest addition. OK, I'm still a little iffy on one name... Pica's BFF. I think it's Kessie though. One more visit and I'll have this thing DOWN. Afterwards the four of us went and ate at Little Italy which I've been wanting to try for a while. It was good.

On Saturday Blake, Salina, Jim, Alanna, and Robin met up with us here in Hot Springs, and we all went to see our friend Seth in his acting debut with The Pocket Theatre (the little community theatre we have here). It was great! The play was "Arsenic & Old Lace" which I had never seen. Seth was fantastic, and so was everyone else. Funny stuff! I've gotta play Aunt Abby some day. After the show we all went to IHOP and it was literally the worst thing ever. They were out of ice and silverware and it was probably 105 degrees. And we were completely surrounded by people who seemed like they could be or have been involved in a paternity dispute on the Maury Povich show. And everything took FOREVER. I remember asking the question "Am I going to die here?" several times.

Today I'm just recovering. And watching the snow out the window.

It's my birthday month! In exactly 2 weeks I turn 26. Look at my birthday cake that's actually a pie...

Mocha Silk Pie. It's a Pioneer Woman recipe my mom's going to make for me. Can't wait. She's also making a fancy lasagna with homemade lasagna noodles. Josh and I got her the pasta-making attachment for her KitchenAid mixer for Christmas, and she's gonna break it out for my big day. I've already ordered my birthday present from Josh (a subscription to Country Living). My other birthday present from him is a trip to 1217 for lunch. Can't wait for that either. I love presents and food.

So the D-button kind of nite.

I agree. The play was great! If I were in town, I'd go again!

Liked the assorted confectionery treats- both yours and mom's! :)

Thanks for having me out. I miss the fun!!! Maybe we can go to Jahna's next time I'm down!

Thanks for coming out Robin! It was great to see you. We should go to Jahna's next time. We're going to see "Much Ado About Nothing" at HSU (Seth's in that one too). Maybe you'll be "in town" that weekend.
