Happy New Year! This morning Lux let me and Josh know (in no uncertain terms) that it is definitely time to take the Christmas decorations DOWN!
This is our Christmas tree skirt. She dragged it into the hallway and deposited it just outside our bedroom door. BTW, that black glove is Lux's FAVORITE toy. She's played with it for years and she never gets tired of it.
It's pretty nasty. It's been submerged in water bowls and everything else. We have the other one too. She loves them both equally.
...But alas, it's now a little after 4pm, and we haven't even started taking stuff down. We are both suffering from 'holiday fatigue' at this point, so we're taking a little down-time. Josh is watching 'Ghost Busters' and I'm blogging (obviously) and organizing some of my many Word documents.
I weighed myself earlier today and was SHOCKED to see that I had lost 4 lbs in December. I don't know how that's even possible, but I'll take it! A year ago I 'resolved' to lose 48 lbs in 2009, and I now know I have lost 51. I hate to brag, but I'm pretty proud of myself right now! (And shocked. Did I mention that?) But enough of that. I have 20 more lbs to go. Hopefully I can get that knocked out in the first half of 2010. Then I will weigh what I really want to weigh: 125. What a glorious number...
I'm comin' for ya!

Bets- you're my hero. I was watching The Biggest Loser tonite. Their stories inspired me. They reached their goals and they looked amazing. And you too. You've met your goals and are still on a roll. If you can do it, I can too!
>;)
Lux knows when it's time to take down the Christmas tree. What a smart cat.
Thanks R! I'm sure you can do it. But please don't use The Biggest Loser as a model for your own weight loss strategy. They push those people way too hard to lose weight way too fast. It's not just about losing weight as quickly (and painfully) as possible. It's about being kind to your body and figuring out a new and improved way of eating and exercising that you can tolerate (and even enjoy) adhering to for the long-term. (Of course you're going to have more leeway after you've reached your goal weight.) My goal was to lose at a rate of 1 lb per week, and that pace is working great for me so far. When I first started, I allowed myself to have about 1700 calories per day. Over the year I've whittled down the number of calories to about 1475 per day. (The less you weigh, the fewer calories you can consume and still continue to lose weight.) And I've been doing moderate exercise off and on the whole time. Not that you have to do it the way I'm doing it. Everyone is different and everyone has to find the lifestyle that works for them. But I just want to point out that 1,000 per day is insanely low, and I can't imagine how anyone could eat so little food day in and day out. It's not necessary to restrict your caloric intake to that degree. I'm going to be putting up some posts that go into more detail about what I do to lose weight (what I eat etc).
Mom, you got it to work! Yep, Lux has brains, beauty AND personality! : )
